As joint-facilitator, Wardynski led two workshops on ‘Self-broadcasting’ at Banner Repeater in East London, a group effort initiated by the collective, Hyperstore. The workshops were developed as visual research sessions, followed by a participatory task and finalised as a critical forum.
The task given was themed around Facebook live and the live video stream mobile app, Periscope. The workshop participants were asked to use and develop content for the apps, considering the ways in which social media metrics drive the optimisation of the content itself.
Through critical discussion and a series of live experiments, the group explored the complex behaviours of Facebook and Periscope users, the impact of the audience behaviours through live response and how these acts affected the broadcasters thoughts and intents.
